I’ll always have tunes going, no matter what, so you don’t need to worry about the music at all. Just enjoy!
How we work together in the lead up
Of course, there are hours of work that go into each and every wedding.
I’ll be with you every step of the way and guide you through the whole process, including:
- Sitting down with you over a wine/whisky/coffee and planning your ceremony structure and inclusions
- Helping you with the run sheet for your whole day
- Capturing your music preferences and requests (no Nutbush, please!) and of course, offering my music expertise
- Getting all the juicy details of you guys as a couple with my questionnaires so I can write your story
- Sorting out all the paperwork required to get you legally married
- Advising on sound requirements and set up
- Final video catch up to run through all the important details for your big day!
How can one person do it all?
I thought you might ask this! Well, I have DJed and MCed plenty of weddings through me and my partner’s business One More Song, and even looked after music for ceremonies, so it can 100% be done!
I cover some of the logistic below.
When do you set up for the reception?
I’ll organise to bump in my equipment about two hours before the first guest arrives. This means I’ll have my DJ decks, speakers and microphone set up and sound checked well before the ceremony, so I am all sorted for later on!
How about PA for the ceremony?
I’ll bring my wireless speaker and microphone for your ceremony with a curated playlist on as guests arrive. These can be played through either my iPod or iPad.
The ceremony set up is super easy – it only takes me about 10 minutes to get myself sorted.
We’re married. What do you do during cocktail hour?
Once your ceremony is done, I’ll put on some tunes for cocktail hour (unless you have other entertainment organised) and hunt you and your witnesses down to sign all the paperwork so everything is finalised and I can register your marriage!
I may then join you for a quick pic and a cheeky congratulatory glass of bubbles before making my way over to my DJ set up to kick off the reception.
How do you DJ and MC at the same time?
Although I’m behind the decks for most of the night, I can still MC, no worries. Many DJs do this!
As I work so closely with all of my couples in the lead up, I’m all over the run sheet. Throughout the night as I’m MCing, I’ll coordinate with the venue, other vendors and you guys/your wedding party (if you’ve got one) to make sure everyone is aligned on timings. I’ll always have tunes going, no matter what, so you don’t need to worry about the music at all. Just enjoy!
